Services for traditional owners and other community groups.
The unit undertakes the following services for traditional owners and other community groups:
- The identification of the correct Traditional Owner groups and individuals for government agencies and the wider community.
- Assists Traditional Owners to get access to traditional country e.g. State Forests and National Parks.
- Advice on Intellectual Property Rights and Protocols.
- Professional cultural heritage assessments and cultural heritage management plans for developments such as the construction of roads, dams, housing and other infrastructure.
- Country based planning for Traditional Owner groups and individuals.
- Facilitates Traditional Owners’ involvement in local and regional land and sea management groups such as Landcare and Catchment Management groups.
- Compilation of funding submissions for traditional owners to work on country undertaking activities such as weed control and re-vegetation programs.
