The Keeping Place

The Keeping Place is the Girringun museum which houses artefacts and cultural history.

museum2.jpgMidja: is the traditional dwelling of the local rainforest people and is made out of locally available materials such as laywer cane and paperbark. These are tied together using string made from the inner bark of local trees.

museum3.jpgThe Keeping Place has several types of the different tools, woven baskets and fish/eel traps used by the local Aboriginal people to gather their food. 
museum1.jpgThe Keeping Place is kept at a constant temperature and humidity to preserve the artefacts.
